In this workshop, simple experiential practices from the Hakomi Method help participants learn to recognize and capitalize on the use of mindfulness in order to sustain a calm and wakeful state of mind, and to help others do so as well.

The practice of yoga is one of self-study. The teaching of yoga is assisted self-study, as is the practice of Hakomi Experiential Psychotherapy as taught by Donna Martin and created by Ron Kurtz. Now we have an opportunity to experience the healing power of yoga and Hakomi as a personal and relational spiritual practice.
Recent studies confirm our understanding that the most important factor in a therapeutic or teaching relationship is the personhood, the state of mind, of the teacher or practitioner. It is the person, more than the method, that holds the greatest healing effect.
What is this ingredient, this state of mind that heals?
We call it loving presence.
This workshop invites you to experience the yoga of self-study and the practice of assisted self-study in a context of loving presence, toward yourself and others. Well move through five experiential stages: self-study through mindfulness, spaciousness, perceptual wisdom, spiritual nourishment, and finally loving presence
in order to discover ourselves anew. As ODonohue says: The loving eye sees through and beyond image and effects the deepest change. [This] can bring you self-knowledge and enable you to glimpse the wonderful treasures your life secretly holds. (Anam Cara)

Please join us for a day of yoga as therapy with a focus on the challenge of quieting the mind and Patanjali's sutra I-2 yoga citta vritti nirodhah... yoga is the place beyond the fluctuations of the mind.
Donna Martin combines thirty years of experience as a yoga teacher with her training as a Hakomi (bodymind) therapist to offer a unique approach to practising and teaching yoga as a way of supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to unfold naturally and effortlessly. Participants will discover how to do this for themselves and others in a context of mindfulness, compassion and relaxed presence. Through movement, breath, asana, sound, and touch, we can learn to cultivate a healing atmosphere and create a mutually nourishing experience.
